Free & Effective Marketing

May 10th, 2009

Being in the worst recession for over 50 years it is now more important than ever to get the most out of your business’s marketing.

Let’s be honest, no marketing will ever be totally free, you’ll have to at least invest in your own personal time. In this post, I’m going to discuss a few marketing techniques which with a little investment of your own time can help increase your business and build a mini community.

A Company Blog

Having a company blog is a great way to get organic search engine traffic that you wouldn’t otherwise get. As well as the increase in traffic it’s a great way to showcase your expertise within the field of your company, making you an expert and providing potential customers with the reassurance that your company is great at what it does.

Facebook Pages

Facebook is a great opportunity to increase awareness of your company. Create a page and get your customer’s to create reviews of your company, you can then promote your page to all your friends. Some of your Facebook friends will decide to become a fan which will then let their friends know of that fact. This can quite easily spread over and over again.

Twitter

Twitter is a great tool to have conversations with current and potential customers alike. Get to know your followers and use current trends to your advantage to attract new friends. Use twitter to build buzz around your products/services or announce sales. Keeping in contact with your clients is great for repeat business.

Important Note

While using the above techniques it’s incredibly important to give back to your mini community, don’t simply post links to your site and spam advertising updates like, “Best deals here, buy now”. Give a reason for the community to follow you and they will either purchase your goods or promote your company to their friends.
