Advertising through Twitter

December 3rd, 2008

Can I first say how much I love Twitter. I’m using it more and more everyday, I’m definitely starting to become addicted.

Now, a new service has sprung up to take advantage (meant in a good way) of Twitter’s massive user base. That service is Magpie, an advertising network.

Having spoke to few friends it seems there’s a mixed reaction to it, from “yeah, seems a clever idea”, to “it’ll make me unfollow anyone using it”.

With regards to it making people unfollow you, with anything it boils down to your followers getting value from your tweets. If I get loads of value from someone who has advertising on their twitter stream, so what, provided that the adverts do not overwhelm that stream.

Overall I think this advertising model is a great idea and I will be keeping it eye on it to see whether it’s worth using.

Twitter is so addicting and wonderful that it is difficult to resist. I do that crazy thing very first time each morning and keep it doing all the time. I haven’t head about magpie though.
